When we arrived at Camaro Con 2, it was like a scene right out of the Fast and Furious movie franchise—cars parked with the hoods popped, along with some cammed LS-motivated cars surging around the aisles looking for a quality parking spot. Yoked-out dudes and hot girls in short-shorts were walking around as well. So how is this event different from any other event? These were all Camaros (and a few Firebirds), and about 800 of them converged at the Promenade Temecula on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Camaro enthusiasts came from all over. Some drove up to seven hours just to partake in this amazing five-hour-long gathering. Borla Exhaust was on hand with a dyno to host the horsepower contest where awards were given to those with the highest horsepower numbers. Camaros with the lowest power numbers also got an award. There was a revving contest for different engine classes. Many noteworthy cars won trophies, but Garrett Kubiak's beautiful Pro Touring, big-block 1968 Camaro stood out and went home with three trophies: Best in Show, Best Dressed Engine, and Lethal Choice.
The headline promoter was Lethal Camaro, which has a Sixth-Gen-centric audience, so there were many late-model Camaros on hand. F-bodies from other social media giants like Camaro.Family, HeadTurners (multiple chapters), WestCoastMaros and more, also showed up, so all generations of the Camaro were represented.
This gathering was presented by Phastek Performance and sponsored by Anderson Composites, ZL1 Addons, 6LE Designs, Borla Exhaust, MuscleKingz, Magnuson Superchargers, Cunningham Motorsports, and more.
With Camaro Con 2 being promoted solely on social media, we didn't know quite what to expect but were pleasantly surprised with the number of cars that made their way to this event. We have to believe that next year's event will be even bigger.
