If a normal last-gen Ford GT isn't special enough for you, don't worry-there's a factory prototype coming up for sale, and it's perfectly legal to register and drive on the road. You should buy it.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

According to the sellers at Worldwide Auctioneers, this Ford GT is confirmation prototype number four out of an estimated nine cars built. Constructed to verify ride, handling, and climate control functions, it's a fully functional GT, meaning it's packing a 550-horsepower supercharged 5.4-liter V8 sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. This car was apparently the first GT to eclipse 200 MPH in testing, which, depending on how obsessed you are with the GT, could be a big deal for you. It was built without air bags and is missing some of the production car sound-deadening. As you can see from the pictures, it still has some velcro that was used to mount engineers' testing equipment, and sports the signatures from all 15 of the car's original engineers.

Worldwide Auctioneers claims this is the only GT prototype out of the group to maintain a current registration, and the only car not to be speed-governed by the factory to 5 MPH. If you remember correctly, the last GT prototype we wrote about had this limiter, to ensure that this non-street-legal example wouldn't find its way onto the highways illegally.

Interestingly, mileage is not listed anywhere in the ad. It will be auctioned off without reserve during Worldwide Auctioneer's Auburn event on September 1st, 2018. If you're in the market, you better hurry up and register to bid.
